And now his case has finally arrived at the Washington State Supreme Court. Penalized for Helping

A physician helped a teenage patient get better and in return he was investigated and then penalized by the Washington State Medical Quality Assurance Commission (MQAC) for the treatment he used. Even though the patient and her parents testified on behalf of the doctor, MQAC didn't take in account the patient's or parents testimony when they made the decision to penalize the doctor. MQAC chose to make their decision based on paid-for testimony given by a self proclaimed quackbuster physician who hasn't practiced medicine for over seven years and who has no personal experience with any of the procedures he testified against.

We hope that the information we have provided on this web site will help you appreciate and value having the choice to alternative/holistic medical care. Many people have asked if there was anything they could do to help keep holistic medical care available in the State of Washington.

It has come to our attention that holistic physicians in our state are under political attack by MQAC (Medical Quality Assurance Commission) and we need your support to continue to provide our patients the alternative care modalities they are seeking. We ask that you write, call, fax, and/or email the governor and your local representatives requesting that they make all necessary changes to the existing law to protect your right to be treated by a holistic physician.

You can use this copy of a suggested letter for this use. Your own paragraph outlining why you value the freedom to choose your own health care will have added impact. Please try to contact your representatives to request freedom for your right to alternative/holistic care by your medical doctor. To find your representatives, you may check the Washington State Legislature website, http://www1.leg.wa.gov/legislature/, or use the contact information provided under our resources section. While we appreciate all your efforts, letters and phone calls seem to get the best response from politicians.

Shocking Report

A shocking report by the Seattle Times revealed the Washington State Medical Quality Assurance Commission's inability to appropriately investigate and punish sex-offending physicians while at the same time aggressively pursuing a holistic MD for demonstrating—but not using—an electrodermal testing machine, charging him with moral turpitude (a charge later dropped), and finally suspending his license for five years.
